Traveling with the Silverfox

I love meeting new people.  I bonded with a lovely lady named Lisa.  We shared some wine together, and come to find out, her son goes to Arizona State!  Of course she is my new friend.

Heidleberg is a fun place! Places to eat and drink for miles on end.  We are staying at a place overlooking the Neckor River.  I think I got the spelling correctly.  The bridge going over it is made of sand stone.  We walked all over until the almost full moon rose above us.

Today we begin again.  A castle to explore and a very festive town square.

I usually get an aisle seat on the plane.  Only because I drink a lot of water, and well, you know. But this time I got a window seat.  I forgot how much I enjoy that as well.  Flying over the various places, seeing the land that looks like a quilt of the countryside.  I look down at the little houses from above and wonder what is going on inside.  Are they busy, are they happy, sad.  And then I see cars going down the streets.  Where are they going?

Frankfurt is a very festive place.  Of course I went into the first Christmas store I found.  Mr. Nutcracker is being shipped home.  He is holding a cuckoo clock, so, I named him Jack. I also went into the Catholic Church to light some candles and pray.  It was old and smelled with the familiarity of incense.  The bells chime every 15 minutes. What a beautiful sound they made, especially at sunset.

So, now we are off to Heidleberg.  Road trip!!  And meeting up with Bob and Sandra and Gary and Cheryl.

The adventures continue.

For the most part, I can pack pretty easily, whether it is for a 3 day trip or a 3 month one.  Get a color scheme going and build around that.  The hardest thing for me is the accessories.  Bracelets and earrings to be exact.  I want to take them all with me, which is a lot.  Someone asked me years ago if I keep everything in a steamer trunk. It’s that many.  I feel a sense of accomplishment when the decision is made.

So for this two week trip that is starting I got everything into 2 carry on bags.  I plan on repeating outfits, because after all I am visiting various places, and no one knows me.  So, basically it’s a who cares if I have worn it before attitude.

Got through Heathrow pretty quickly, made it through security without my bags going through a thorough search.  So, here I sit waiting to board for a little over an hour flight.

Frankfurt here I come.

Traveling with the Silverfox

The gypsy lifestyle began for me 3 years ago when my husband started working in Cardiff, Wales in the UK.  I travel over here 3-4 times a year, staying anywhere from 2-3 months at a time.  During my stay here we take side trips to various places: Berlin and Vienna for the Christmas Marts, Barcelona and Paris for our anniversary, Dublin for Easter, and more recently Amsterdam. Train trips to London can happen at a moments notice.

I  love to travel and meeting the locals, and talking with them.  I love a good adventure, and I take each trip and get the most out of it.  I jot down my thoughts of the day, where we went, what we ate, the people I met.  And if something out of the ordinary happened.

I am going to use this blog to share all of this with you.  My next adventure begins on Wednesday with 2 weeks in Germany, including Oktoberfest and then to Austria.

Please enjoy the random thoughts of this lady.
